Bibliography Methods

A literature search was conducted for all published articles before July 2007 reporting on misoprostol use. The electronic database Pubmed/Medline and ISI Web of Knowledge were searched with the subject heading of ‘misoprostol’. The search generated a total of 3917 references, from which 1990 studies were excluded as they had no relation to reproductive health. The remaining references were cross checked and labeled with the indication of misoprostol use, its study type, and the continent in which the study originated. The results are further categorised according to the indication of misoprostol use and presented in individual documents that can be found in the bibliography section.
